The fourth reported Filipino victim in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war is one of the three recorded missing, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday, October 19.
According to DFA, the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was a caregiver in Kibbutz Be'eri in Israel, one of the communities that became a spot of the surprise attack by the militant group Hamas on October 7.
"This reduces to two (2) the number of Filipino nationals who remain missing since the attack, while four (4) are now confirmed dead," the DFA said.
The victim has been identified through fingerprint records.
"Interpool emailed on October 18 to inform the Embassy that her remains were identified using fingerprint records. Interpol did not provide details on the circumstances on her death," the DFA said in its statement.
Meanwhile, DFA said Ambassador Pedro 'Junie' Laylo Jr. of the Philippine Embassy in Israel called the family to convey his sympathies and offer the Embassy's full assistance.
The Embasyssy said it will not reveal the identity of the Filipina OFW following its family's request for privacy.
Earlier, at least 26 were found and rescued, with one still being treated for moderate injuries in a hospital in Isreal.
"May the memory of the departed be always a blessing," DFA said, ending its statement.
