Four out of five Tau Gamma members tagged on the death of alleged hazing victim Ronnel Baguio, from the University of Cebu, surrendered to the authorities on Thursday, police said.

The 20-year-old marine engineering student, according to his mother Leny, died during hazing rites on December 19, 2022.

The mother sought justice following the death of John Matthew Salilig, a third-year Chemical Engineering student from Adamson University, whose body was found buried in a shallow grave in Imus, Cavite last February 28

The suspects were accompanied by lawyer John Patrick Umpad to the Cebu City Police Office to confess.

"They came forward because they would want to confess what really happened and what really transpired during the incident. Today we will determine what [their] degree of participation in that particular event," PLtCol Maria Theresa Macatangay said.

"We're thankful na ngayon nagkaroon sila ng lakas na loob na harapin 'yung mga nangyari subsequent to their initiation," she added.

Identities of the suspects, with the fifth suspect at large, were withheld due to the ongoing investigation.

The Public Attorney's Office (PAO) has offered free legal counsel to the family of Baguio.
