On Monday, four Russian nationals were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and PNP-Maritime Group (PNP-MG) after a distressed yacht incident occurred in the area of Tawi-Tawi.

The Coast Guard Station in Northern Tawi-Tawi reported that the yacht submerged in the area after the GPS failed to detect the depth of the water. It was reportedly transiting the waters off San Miguel Island when the episode happened.

Fortunately, all the passengers were saved, and were eventually escorted to the Mapun Port by the team. They were then taken to Mapun District Hospital for a medical assessment.

Results showed that they are all in good physical condition and are now in custody of the Local Government Unit (LGU) Mapun for safety.
