Four passengers, onboard the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3 (MRT-3), sustained minor injuries after the train activated its emergency brake while approaching Boni Station on Wednesday morning.
In a statement, MRT-3 management said at about 9:08 am, the MRT-3 train's safety feature called automatic train protection (ATP) system activated the emergency brake to "stop a defective index" while arriving at Boni station.

It said that its Lifeline emergency medical technicians (EMTs) immediately responded to the incident and aided the four hurt passengers.
Stations and security personnel likewise assisted the passengers on board the train, MRT-3 management said.
"Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge Jorjette B. Aquino, on behalf of MRT-3, wishes to extend her utmost apology to all affected passengers, for the inconvenience brought about by the incident," it said.
