At least 39,000 cops would be deployed starting on Thursday, Dec. 7, to bost police visibility for the upcoming holiday season, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
As reported by Val Gonzales in MBC Network News, PNP Public Information Officer (PIO) Chief Jean Fajardo said that the deployment was made following the "full alert status" to be implemented on Dec 15.
Fajardo said the PNP has also released up to 436 police service dogs, of which 364 are explosive detector dogs.
She, however, said that the force does not include the augmentation force that will come from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Coast Guard.
Under PNP Chief Benjamin Acorda Jr.'s direction, the focus is on public places such as churches, transport terminals, malls, and other visiting sites every holiday.
