The Department of Agriculture (DA) is expecting a dip in prices of the national staple this October following the surplus of rice supply this harvest season.

In a report by RH Val Gonzales on Friday, Oct. 6, DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban said consumers could expect up to P36 per kilo of rice in markets.

Panganiban lauded President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Executive Order (EO) No. 39 or the imposition of a price ceiling on rice in reining in the hike of rice prices.

The DA Senior Undersecretary said he was confident in the steady decrease of rice prices in markets nationwide following Marcos’ directive to lift the rice price cap.
