The Philippines on Monday logged an all-time high new COVID-19 infections with 33,169, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,998,530.
This is the third consecutive day that the Department of Health (DOH) registered record-high new cases.
Of the 33,169 fresh cases, the DOH said 32,972 or 99 percent occurred within the recent 14 days from December 28 to January 10, 2022.
Metro Manila had also posted the highest number of new cases with 18,535 or 56 percent, followed by Calabarzon with 7,443 or 23 percent, and Central Luzon with 3,403 or 10 percent.
The country's active cases also climbed to 157,526, of which 4,994 are asymptomatic, 147,912 are mild, 2,858 are moderate, 1,461 are severe, and 301 are critical.
According to the DOH, the Philippines' positivity rate is now at 46 percent with a total of 73,234 COVID-19 tests being conducted.
Recoveries also rose to 2,788,711, with 3,725 more individuals recuperating from the viral illness while 145 more deaths were reported, bringing the total tally to 52,293.
Of the 145 deaths, three occurred in November 2021 (2%), 18 in October 2021 (12%), 52 in September 2021 (36%), 22 in August 2021 (15%), 24 in July 2021 (17%), 13 in June 2021 (9%), five in May 2021 (3%), one each in March 2021 (1%) and February 2021 (1%), and six in January 2021 (4%).
"Deaths were from and Region 11 (145 or 100% due to late encoding of death information to COVIDKaya. This issue is currently being coordinated with the Epidemiology and Surveillance Units to ensure information is up to date," said DOH.
The Philippines' total caseload was also revised by removing 86 duplicates, including 73 recoveries and two deaths, as per the DOH.
Also, 124 recoveries were reclassified as fatalities after final validation.
The utilization rate of nationwide intensive care unit beds went up to 38% and 17% occupancy rate for mechanical ventilators across the country.
