Thirty houses were destroyed in a fire that broke out early Thursday morning in Purok 5, Isla Puting Bato, Tondo, Manila.
In a report by RH Boy Gonzales, the fire spread quickly among the closely built houses made of light materials.
According to Senior Inspector Alejandro Ramos of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Manila, over 50 fire trucks responded to the blaze, which started shortly after 2:00 AM.
The fire reached the fifth alarm before being declared out past 4:00 AM.
Around 100 families, equivalent to 270 individuals, were affected by the incident.
Inspector Ramos added that efforts to extinguish the fire were challenging due to the narrow passageways and the fire’s location at the far end of Isla Puting Bato.
Meanwhile, no casualties or injuries were reported.
The BFP is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
It can be recalled that parts of Isla Puting Bato also burned in November last year, affecting hundreds of families in Purok Uno to Purok Tres.
