The three suspects in the murder of Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo have been arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army during a pursuit operation in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.
Degamo was shot dead inside his residential compound in Barangay San Isidro, Pamplona, Negros Oriental, on Saturday morning, March 4.
Police identified the three male suspects as:
- Joric Labrador y Garido, 50 years old, a former army and a resident of Cagayan De Oro
- Joven Aber y Calibjo, 42 years old, a former army ranger, and a resident of Brgy. Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental
- Benjie Rodriguez y Buladola, 45 years old, a resident of Mindanao
They were seized in Barangay Cansumalig, Bayawan City at around 4:20 PM.
The suspects were arrested after three get-away vehicles were found in the area:
- 1 Mitsubishi Pajero with plate number NQZ 735
- 1 green Isuzu Pick Up with plate number GRY 162
- 1 black Mitsubishi Montero with plate number YAP 163
Witnesses said that over 10 armed people were seen leaving the vehicle to move towards the mountainous area of Barangay Cansumalig.
Their possible exit areas are Sitio Terong and Sitio Kayawkaw of Brgy Narra, Bayawan City, and Brgy. Sto Niño, Tanjay City.
The police are conducting a follow-up hot pursuit operation of other apprehensions of the fleeing suspects.
