Three Filipino students waved the Philippine flag as they won and achieved the best overall performance in the 35th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), held in Hungary from August 28 to September 4.

A total of three awards, consisting of one silver and two bronze medals, were taken home by the Philippine team as they competed with 351 contestants from 87 countries.

Among the Filipino high school students who participated in the IOI are John Lloyd Allas, Filbert Ephraim Wu, Jerome Austin Te, Cassidy Kyler Tan, their leader Kevin Charles Atienza, and Deputy Leader Marte Raphael Soliza.

Meanwhile, the IOI is an International Informatics Competition for High School students, which is one of the five international science olympiads and one of the most prestigious competitive programming events in the world.
