Three people were killed while three others were injured after a six-vehicle collision on Sumulong Highway in Antipolo City on Tuesday morning, Edniel Parrosa reported.
According to first responders from Barangay Sta. Cruz Rescue, the incident occurred past 6 a.m. when a truck bound for the city proper to load sand reportedly lost its brakes.
The out-of-control vehicle then rammed into another truck, two motorcycles, a car, and an SUV on the opposite lane.
Due to the strong impact, the truck's driver and helper were pinned inside the crushed front cabin, while a motorcycle rider was run over.
The Antipolo City Command Center confirmed that the truck helper was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while the two other trapped victims died during retrieval operations.
Police investigator Pat. Reymark Palevino said three additional victims are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Traffic in the area was heavily affected and only returned to normal after three hours.
