The general public will soon receive the second booster shots against COVID-19, Department of Health (DOH) officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire announced on Wednesday.
In a press briefing, Vergeire said the Health Technology Assessment Council and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have approved the proposal of making COVID-19 2nd booster available to the general population.
"Sa ngayon, binabalangkas pa ang ating mga guidelines. Nai-present na ito sa executive committee ng Department of Health last week. Nagbigay kami ng komento at ngayon, fina-finalized na," she said.
The three COVID-19 vaccine brands to be offered are Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca.
"Hopefully, within the week, we can issue and we can start the implementation, the soonest time possible," she said.
Last year, the DOH has started the vaccination of the COVID-19 second booster but this is only given to priority groups including workers in essential health services, senior citizens, and adults with comorbidities..
