A total of 21 Filipino seafarers from Ukraine arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday, March 8.
This is the third batch of repatriated Filipinos by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) following the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
According to the DFA, 21 seafarers from the bulk carrier M/V S-Breeze has arrived in the country earlier this morning boarded flight KR659, which landed in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The M/V S Breeze has been in the dry dock for repairs at the Ilyichevsk Ship Yard in the Port of Odessa, Ukraine where they filmed the viral video of them getting hit by a missile by the Russian army and asked for them to be rescued or evacuated.
From Odessa, they were transported to Chornomorsk where they exited to Moldova where the DFA officials helped them exit the country and get home to the Philippines.
The DFA will give financial assistance to the repatriated Filipinos under the Office of the Migrant Workers Affairs of Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola
There are now more than 100 overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who have been evacuated by the DFA since the repatriation efforts of the government.
