The 21 Filipino seafarers rescued from the Houthi-hit merchant ship MV Tutor in the Red Sea arrived in the Philippines on Monday, June 17.
"Twenty-one Filipino crewmen of the MV Tutor just arrived safely in the Philippines," the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said in a Facebook post.
"They were met on the plane by Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac and Health Secretary Ted Herbosa, as well as Tingog Representative and House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs Chair Jude Acidre," it added in the caption.
In a separate post, the DMW said the 21 rescued seafarers will receive Php 230,000 from the government.
They were also given 192 Bahraini dinars (equivalent to Php 30,000) each before going home to the country.
Reports said Houthi rebels off the western coast of Yemen hit the Liberia-flagged Tutor with drones and missiles on June 12. On board, the MV Tutor was 22 Filipino seafarers.
On June 14, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered all concerned government agencies to bring the Filipino seafarers to safety.
DMW said one remains missing.
