The death toll brought by tropical cyclones Ferdie and Gener, enhanced by the southwest monsoon (habagat), has risen to 20, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
According to the council’s situational report on Wednesday, September 18 issued at 5:00 AM, the tropical depression Gener has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at around 2:00 AM today, while tropical storm Pulusan was seen moving west northward over the Philippine sea at 5:00 AM.
Consequently, there were 156,524 families or 597,879 individuals affected by the typhoon. The breakdown listed Western Visayas with the most affected population, while CARAGA was listed with the least number of affected persons.
The report also included that 11 were injured, while 14 are currently missing. The highest number of reports were from the MIMAROPA Region.
Moreover, a total of 37 cities/municipalities were affected by the typhoon. Due to that, 6 places are currently experiencing power outages, while the supply for 31 cities/municipalities had already been restored.
Additionally, 19,736 families were assisted.
According to PAGASA, Gener is expected to continue moving over the West Philippine Sea, before reaching southern China.
