The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested two South Korean national fugitives last Saturday, October 21, in Brgy. Cuayan, Angeles City, and Pampanga for their involvement in fraud-related activities.

According to Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco, the fugitives identified as Kwon Junyoung (38) and Seok Jongmin (48) were apprehended by the operatives from the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU) through collaboration with Korean authorities, government intelligence groups, and the Angeles City Police Station.

Tansingco added that Kwon was wanted for telecommunications fraud in South Korea, while Seok, on the other hand, was wanted for engaging in wire fraud, money laundering, and identity theft in Texas, United States.

The BI commissioner said that the two fugitives would be deported to Korea and the US, as summary deportation orders were already against them by the BI board of commissioners.

Kwon and Seokmin were also included in the BI blacklist for being undesirable aliens.

Through the actions of their crime, Kwon is part of a telecom fraud syndicate based in Dalian, China, in which he is allegedly using voice phishing through random calls to his victims.

He will remain in Angeles City Police custody due to his ongoing local case, but will still continue to be subjected to deportation proceedings by the BI.
