A fire broke out on the 35th floor of the Anchor Sky Building on Ongpin Street, Binondo, Manila, early Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals.
According to a report by Boy Gonzales, the victims were two female maids working for the family that owned the unit.
Senior Inspector Cesar Mabante of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Manila estimated that the victims were in their 20s and 30s. They were reportedly in the maids' room and may have suffocated, unable to escape the blaze.
The maids' room was the only area affected in the unit, while their employers were reportedly safe in separate rooms.
According to the BFP, the fire started at 3:40 AM and was declared extinguished by 4:50 AM.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
