Two people were killed, and three others were injured after being electrocuted by a Christmas light in Brgy. Poblacion, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, on January 6.
According to a report by provincial reporter Rex Cantong, the victims were disassembling a large Christmas tree when the accident occurred.
The deceased were identified as Elnie Endenscio, 41, a barangay kagawad from Barangay Arebasore, and Jonel Tenibroso, 31, a forklift operator and resident of Barangay Mayapusi.
The five victims were immediately rushed to the nearest medical facility. Only three survived the incident, including a youth village official. The other injured individuals were workers from Barangay Arebasore.
One of the deceased was an employee of the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), while the other was also a municipal worker.
