Following the magnitude 6 earthquake on Wednesday evening, two Davao Region provinces declared class and work suspension on Thursday.

Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte governors Dorothy Gonzaga and Edwin Jubahib issued memorandums for class and work cancelation effective immediately.

Gonzaga said in a Facebook post that classes and government work were suspended to inspect the structures in schools and offices and warned the public to take good care for possible aftershocks.

Meanwhile, Jubahib issued the suspension to check all school buildings as part of the precautionary measures and standard safety protocol.
