

Two police officers died after being struck by lightning while on duty during a heavy downpour in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro at around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, May 14.
According to a report by Edniel Parrosa, the victims were identified as Patrolman Laudelino Lomio and Patrolman Ruzzel Fontarum, both assigned to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion in the province.
Based on the incident report filed by PCpl Fernan Macuha, the lightning strike occurred in the parking area of their camp amid intense rainfall and sharp lightning flashes.
The lifeless bodies of the officers were discovered by their colleague, Patrolman John Cyril Hilario, who was conducting a routine patrol in the area. He immediately called for assistance.
The victims were rushed by fellow officers to the Mindoro Medical Center but were declared dead on arrival.
