A New Year’s Eve shootout in Barangay Ayala left two men dead, both of whom were wanted by the police.

The incident unfolded on the evening of December 31, 2024, as reported by Edniel Parrosa in Dos Por Dos.

According to the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), Senior Master Sergeant Ryan Mariano was on covert duty near Mount Carmel Parish Church when he encountered the two suspects.

Mariano, who was deployed to monitor illegal firecracker activities that night, was caught on CCTV engaging in a gunfight with the suspects, who initially rode a motorcycle and stopped near Mariano.
