

There were 1.95 million unemployed Filipinos in June 2025, as the unemployment rate dropped to 3.7%, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Based on the agency’s latest Labor Force Survey, the unemployment rate for the previous month was lower compared with the 3.9% in May 2025. The data showed that there were 2.03 million unemployed individuals in the said month.
Meanwhile, 1.6 million Filipinos, or 3.1% were unemployed in June 2024.
Due to the slight drop in percentage, the country’s employment rate was registered at 96.3%, slightly higher than the 96.1% in May 2025. This means that the number of employed persons in June 2025 was posted at 50.47 million, while 50.29 million was the number recorded by the PSA in May 2025.
The PSA listed the following sectors with the highest contribution in the employment share in June 2025:
- Services sector (61.4% of the total employed persons)
- Agriculture (20.9%)
- Industry (17.7%)
In terms of the annual increase in the number of employed persons in June 2025, the top five sub-sectors listed were the following:
- Fishing and aquaculture (512,000)
- Wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (375,000)
- Financial and insurance activities (327,000)
- Transportation and storage (211,000)
- Human health and social work activities (179,000)
In contrast, these five sub-sectors were recorded with the highest annual decreases in the totality of employed persons:
- Construction (-692,000)
- Agriculture and forestry (-580,000)
- Manufacturing (-424,000)
- Arts, entertainment, and recreation (-218,000)
- Mining and quarrying (-96,000)
Wage and salary workers employed in private establishments maintained the highest share, with 49.5% of the total number of employed persons. This was followed by employees from government or government-controlled corporations, making up 8.5% of employed persons during the period.
