As the House of Representatives 19th Congress nears its conclusion, House Speaker Martin Romualdez is setting the bar high for future lawmakers, enacting 166 national and local bills.
On Sunday, the House announced that the chamber filed a staggering 13,454 measures, from July 25, 2022, to December 27, 2024. Out of the measures filed, 1,368 were approved, 73 were signed as national, and 93 for local laws.
“This Congress has set a new standard for productivity and purpose. Our collective achievements reflect our deep sense of duty to the Filipino people, ensuring that every measure we craft, debate, and pass uplifts lives, strengthens communities, and builds a resilient nation,” Romualdez said.
Moreover, of the 13,454 measures filed, 11,241 of those were bills, 2,212 were resolutions, and one petition. There were also 1,319 committee reports submitted during the period.
Besides filing measures and passing laws, the House noted its strong commitment to accountability; adding that it adopted findings and recommendations from nine committee reports on inquiries conducted in aid of legislation.
“We are not just legislators; we are guardians of public trust. Every inquiry conducted, every recommendation adopted, ensures that governance is rooted in integrity and service to the people,” the House Speaker emphasized.
Romualdez highlighted their collaboration with the Senate as the key factor for the chamber’s success. Through this effort, both chambers ensured that the laws passed were practical, implementable, and responsive to the needs of the people. As it stretches towards its conclusion, Romualdez reaffirmed that the House will remain committed to sustaining its legislative momentum.
“This Congress will be remembered as one of decisive action, unwavering unity, and transformative legislation,” he assured.
“We will not rest until every Filipino feels the impact of the progress we are creating—until we achieve a nation that is truly inclusive and empowered,” he added.
