Authorities recovered the body of one of the two teenagers who went missing after swimming at Pola Bay in the town of Pola in Oriental Mindoro on Sunday.

According to Johnny Genabe, the head of the Pola Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the fatality was a 15-year-old student from Anuling High School in nearby Pinamalayan.

The victim was believed to have drowned after being swept away by strong waves and currents while swimming with four other friends.

According to Genabe, the companions, aged 16 and 18, were all rescued by fisherfolk on the scene.
