The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) confirmed that 15 fire volunteers sustained injuries while battling a massive fire in Balut, Tondo, on Friday, August 9.
According to RH Boy Gonzales' report, the fire broke out at a four-story warehouse on Guidote Street, Barangay 132, and has been raging for over 15 hours.
Despite prolonged efforts to control the blaze, the fire remains at the second alarm level.
Fire Captain Cesar Babante reported that the warehouse contains power tools and flammable materials, which has made the situation particularly hazardous.
Rescuers have been unable to enter the building due to the high risk, as several pieces of equipment inside have exploded unexpectedly.
Injured volunteers have been transported to various hospitals in Manila for treatment.
Meanwhile, the BFP has assured the public that the injuries sustained by the firefighters are minor, and they are currently receiving medical attention at Chinese General Hospital.
