A fire burned a house down in Barangay Duljo Fatima in Cebu City on Sunday night, which killed an 11-month-old baby.

According to Marino Milomeda, the fatality, identified as Jeydane Reil Puza, was sleeping on the house's second floor when the fire happened.

Milomeda stated that he tried to save his grandson but failed, which also caused him to sustain burns on his body.

He told me that he thought he could still go in and save the baby as the fire wasn't that big yet; however, it ate up the entire house, so he went back.

In the initial report by the Cebu City Fire Station, the fire started at around 8:24 p.m., was raised to the first alarm at 8:29 p.m., and was declared out at 8:50 p.m.

Meanwhile, the fire may have been the main cause of the fire, as Milomeda said he has been using candles for three months now as they were not able to pay for their electricity bill.

He thought that the dripping of the candle fell on the cushion.

Meanwhile, an estimated P12,500 in damage has been done to the property, affecting 50 square meters.
