Tropical storm Egay has intensified further as it moves westward over the Philippine Sea.

In the latest 11 AM bulletin, PAGASA said that the center of the typhoon's eye is located approximately 525 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center and gusts reaching up to 185 km/h. The central pressure measures 960 hPa.

The typhoon's present movement is slow but westward. Tropical cyclone winds are extending outward up to 600 kilometers from the center.

Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) have been issued in certain areas. TCWS No. 2 is in effect for regions experiencing gale-force winds, while TCWS No. 1 signals strong winds.

The typhoon may also enhance the Southwest Monsoon, bringing occasional monsoon rains over western parts of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas in the next three days.

Typhoon Egay's track shows it moving west-northwest in the next 12 hours before turning northwestward and approaching Northern Luzon and the Luzon Strait.

Landfall

It may make landfall or pass close to the Babuyan Islands-Batanes area between tomorrow evening and Wednesday afternoon. The typhoon is predicted to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday and move towards Taiwan.

Possible super typhoon

While the track forecast is subject to change, Egay is expected to continue intensifying and potentially reach super typhoon status.

However, there is a possibility of a weakening trend as it enters cooler waters southwest and west of Taiwan.
