The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has recorded a total of 101 aftershocks following the magnitude 6.8 earthquake that hit Sarangani, Davao Occidental last Friday, Nov. 17, according to Phivolcs Director Teresito Bacolcol.

In an interview during Magandang Umaga Pilipinas, Bacolcol said 5 of the 101 aftershocks were felt by residents.

Balcol affirmed that the Cotabato trench moved which caused the magnitude 6.8 earthquake.

Noong October 2019 may tinatawag tayong transfer yong energy na ni-release by active fault a near by active fault. Magkakatabi yong fault dun kaya sunod-sunod ang lindol," he said.

"Pero dito naman, it's a trench.

Last Nov. 17, Phivolcs reported that magnitude 6.8 jolted Davao Occidental. But the state seismologist initially recorded 7.2 magnitude earthquake.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's (NDRRMC) latest bulletin, nine individuals reportedly perished due to the quake while 15 others sustained injuries.
