A ten-year-old boy died after having been trapped in a fire which consumed three houses along Mercedes Street corner Perdigon Street in Barangay 681, Paco, Manila on Wednesday, July 31.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) found the victim's body on the second floor of his family's house. He was separated from his parents as they were fleeing the spreading blaze.

The fire was raised to the first alarm at 10:20 AM, and was taken up to the second alarm after only 10 minutes.

Firefighters were able to control the conflagration by 11:30 AM, and put it out at 11:38 AM.

A mopping operation is still ongoing to ascertain the fire has been completely extinguished, and so is an investigation into the cause.
