The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday confirmed that a Filipino was hurt in the ongoing clashes between a military and a paramilitary unit in Sudan.
In a statement, DFA Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega said the victim was “just grazed” and has already recovered. He did not identify or give other details on the victim, saying the latter wants to keep a low profile.
According to De Vega, the Philippine Embassy in Egypt received 87 requests for evacuation and repatriation from Filipinos who are affected by the ongoing violence in Khartoum, Sudan.
Around 400 Filipinos were recorded in Sudan, adding the number increased from 250 as the clashes erupted.
