One of the four Filipino crew members of the container ship MSC Aries has been officially released by the Iranian authorities, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced on Friday, May 10.
In a statement, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac thanked the DFA for their unwavering efforts in making the release possible.
“We send our sincerest thanks to Secretary Enrique Manalo and his entire team at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), who spared no efforts to secure the release of our brave seafarer,” said Cacdac.
Cacdac assured that their agency will continue cooperating with the DFA, the ship agent, and the licensed manning agency to secure the release of the three Filipino crewmen who remain in the custody of Iranian authorities.
DFA earlier noted that they are working to secure the release of the four Filipinos who were among the 25 crew members seized onboard MSC Aries
Aside from the four Filipinos, some seafarers are from Russia, India, Pakistan, and Estonia.
