One has died, while 48 were injured and brought to a Department of Health (DOH) retained hospital following a clash between rallyists and anti-riot police along Mendiola street on Sunday, said the DOH.

An unidentified man was declared dead on arrival at the DOH-Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center (DOH-JRRMMC) due to a stabbing wound.

Meanwhile, two policemen who sustained minor injuries, lacerations on the feet and body, were immediately discharged after treatment.

Six more patients had various wounds, namely: a cut on a foot, eye trauma, head trauma, injury to the vein or artery on one arm, a gunshot wound, and a severe wound on an arm. Four of them have already been discharged, while two remain admitted for further medical attention.

Aside from these nine, 39 more rallyists are currently undergoing physical examination before they are sent to jail.

Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa assured that these patients would be covered by the zero balance billing, in line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure prompt and quality medical service for all Filipinos.
