Ormoc City provides programs to help women earn income even while staying at home.
Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez expressed concern that the family might suffer if both parents seek work away from their home.
"My advocacy really is to empower the women without bringing her out of her home," said Gomez on Wednesday, March 6, during DILG sa DZRH Breaktime.
"Kapag yung husband niya ay aalis, tapos siya pa ay aalis, even if they are financially privileged or advantaged, the family life might suffer," the local chief executive further explained.
Gomez said that the LGU provides programs that teach women skills to earn additional income without physically leaving their homes.
"Nung Wellness Month, which is every July, may nagtuturo ng pagmasahe, sewing, ganstilyo. Things that they can do at home," Gomez said.
