The camp of former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag, and former BuCor deputy security officer Ricardo Zulueta denied that the two went into hiding.
Atty. Lauro Gacayan, the lawyer of Bantag and Zulueta, said on Tuesday, June 20, that the two former BuCor officials have been staying in the Cordillera Administrative Region.
"Dito naman sa Baguio, Benguet, they are not hiding naman. They are going to their relatives," Gacayan divulged during DZRH's Dos Por Dos.
Gacayan made the statement after the Department of Justice released the wanted poster of Bantag and Zulueta, who have been accused of perpetrating the murder of broadcaster Percival Mabasa.
The DOJ also placed a bounty of Php 2 million for Bantag and Php 1 million for Zulueta.
Gacayan also expressed doubts that the bounty will affect the status of Bantag, and Zulueta, who both have standing arrest warrants.
"They are in the Cordillera Administrative Region. Ang mga tao naman dito ay suportado naman sa kanila. Walang problema sa kanilang security," Gacayan said.
The lawyer said that their camp will file a petition at the Court of Appeals before the end of June to question the orders issued by the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court and the resolution of the DOJ regarding their case.
