Some members of the 'Solid 7' group plan to join the Minority bloc of the Senate.
Sen. Joel Villanueva revealed that senators JV Ejercito, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Nancy Binay, Sonny Angara are considering joining the bloc composed of Senate Minority Leader Aquilino 'Koko' Pimentel III, and Sen. Risa Hontiveros.
Villanueva also previously raised the possibility that he will join the Senate minority bloc.
"Iyan lahat ay open to the idea to be part of the minority. We have spoken to Sen. Koko Pimentel and very much welcome daw kami," Villanueva told reporters on Tuesday, May 28, at the Department of Social Welfare and Development office in Batasan, Quezon City.
The Solid 7 group rose after Zubiri stepped down as Senate President, and Sen. Francis Escudero became the new leader of the Upper House of Congress.
The members of the group include Zubiri, and six other senators who did not vote for Escudero.
The Strong 7 group also includes senators Sherwin Gatchalian, and Loren Legarda.
"Buhay din yung option to talk to the Senate President and find out how we could be of help, saan paraan kami makakatulong," Villanueva said.
"At the end of the day, ang bottomline namin lahat dito ay saan kami mas magiging epektibo in helping the institution, our country, and people," he added.
