The United States Coast Guard reported on Wednesday the recovery of 'presumed human remains' from the wreckage of the Titan sub, which had been retrieved from the seafloor.

These remains, carefully collected, will undergo thorough analysis by medical professionals.

According to a press release, the evidence will be transferred to a Coast Guard cutter located within the United States.

The Marine Board of Investigation will then conduct further analysis and testing to gain deeper insights into the recovered items.

"United States medical professionals will conduct a formal analysis of presumed human remains that have been carefully recovered within the wreckage at the site of the incident," the US Coast Guard said.

Earlier on Wednesday, fragments of the Titan submersible were brought back to the Canadian port of St. John's in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Officials at the port will examine these pieces to aid in their investigation of the implosion incident that tragically claimed the lives of five individuals aboard the vessel.

Meanwhile, MBI Chair Captain Jason Neubauer emphasized the importance of comprehending the factors that led to the catastrophic loss of the TITAN and preventing similar incidents in the future.

“The evidence will provide investigators from several international jurisdictions with critical insights into the cause of this tragedy," stated MBI Chair Captain Jason Neubauer.

”There is still a substantial amount of work to be done to understand the factors that led to the catastrophic loss of the TITAN and help ensure a similar tragedy does not occur again,” the official added.

Initially vanishing on Sunday, June 18, during its journey to the Titanic wreckage, the Titan submersible prompted a five-day search by the Coast Guard.

Initially, officials held hope for the survival of the five men aboard until the vessel's oxygen supply was expected to deplete on Thursday.

Unfortunately, this hope was dashed when the Coast Guard District Northeast confirmed the discovery of a debris field near the Titanic wreck, containing external parts of the Titan submersible.

The Coast Guard later confirmed that the passengers of the submersible had tragically experienced a "catastrophic implosion" resulting in their untimely deaths.
