South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun has stepped down from his upcoming series and will no longer star in the drama titled “No Way Out” after being accused of using illegal drugs.
In a report from Korean entertainment news portal Soompi on Monday, the 48-year-old actor expressed his intention to step down from the drama series, in which he was supposedly playing the lead role, as it will take a considerable amount of time to organize the situation, said the show’s production team through an official statement.
As speculations grew about Lee Sun-kyun’s involvement in alleged drug use after the South Korean authorities conducted an investigation that included an actor, his management company mentioned that it was in the process of verifying the specific facts related to the allegations.
Lee Sun-kyun rose to fame through his notable works, including the 2009 film “Paju” and the Palme d’Or-winning dark comedy film “Parasite."
The actor also starred in the drama “My Mister” alongside IU.
