The Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) assured that the situation in Taiwan remains 'normal'.
"Normal na normal," said MECO chairperson Silvestre Bello III on Friday, April 28, during DZRH's Magandang Umaga Pilipinas.
Bello shared that he met with members of the Filipino community in Taiwan over the weekends, and none of them expressed the desire to return home to the Philippines.
The MECO official provided assurance amidst concerns regarding the rising tension between Taiwan and China, whch claims jurisdiction over the island.
Bello also assured that Taiwan prepared an alert system, and shelters in case of a conflict.
"Kapag binuksan nung OFW yung kanilang cellphone i-indicate kung saan sila pupunta," Bello revealed.
"May shelter lahat iyan, lahat. Yung opisina nga namin, doon sa bababa, ay may basement five, basement six," the former Labor secretary added.
