The government's implementation of the "no vaccine, no ride" policy has loosened, according to the Associated Labor Union-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP), after pressure from groups to ease restrictions on workers.

According to ALU-TUCP spokesperson Alan Tanjusay, the first three days of the policy's implementation caused extreme inconcenience to workers, which he said was due to the implementers not being briefed properly.

"Mukhang ang problema dun sa aming assessment, ang problema ay doon sa nagpapatupad mukhang di na-briefing nang husto," Tanjusay told DZRH in an interview.

"Pero after that lumuwag-luwag naman. Mabuti't nagpaliwanag si [Secretary Silvestre Bello III] na dapat exempted ang mga manggagawang papasok sa trabaho," he added.

The "no vaccine, no ride" policy of the government saw backlash from several groups for reportedly discriminating on the unvaccinated. The ALU-TUCP also previously called it out for being problematic for some workers because it is causing them to pay extra just to reach their workplaces.

Bello later clarified, however, that unvaccinated workers reporting to workplaces are exempted from the regulation, as long as they present their work IDs or a certificate of employment to enforcers.
