Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player and Brgy. Ginebra resident import Justin Brownlee arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday, February 7.
Ginebra team manager Alfrancis Chua posted a picture with Brownlee on his Instagram account taken at the headquarters of the San Miguel Corporation (SMC) in Ortigas.
"He's back," said Chua, who also serves as sports director of SMC, on the Instagram post.
Brownlee returned to the Philippines days after the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas confirmed that he could play in the upcoming 2025 FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers.
Last Saturday, February 3, SBP announced that FIBA issued a notice of charge carrying a proposed three month period of ineligibility to Brownlee after he failed an anti-doping test last October.
Brownlee tested positive for Carboxy-THC, a specified Prohibited Substance, according to the Prohibited List of the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Following his failed doping test, Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player opted to serve a provisional suspension and did not suit up for the title defense of Brgy. Ginebra in the 2023-2024 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
SBP stressed that the decision of Brownlee paved the way for his immediate return to the national team.
