The five main casts of the hit 90s sitcom “Friends” expressed devastation at the sudden passing of their castmate and considered family member, Matthew Perry.
The official joint statement of Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer was published in American media outlets on Monday, Oct. 30.
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family,” they said.
The actors said there are many things they want to convey, but for the moment, they are “going to take to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”
“In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world,” the “Friends” casts furthered.
Aside from the cast, the 90’s sitcom's co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane issued a joint statement expressing their grief over the 54-year-old actor’s death.
“We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing. It still seems impossible. All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives,” they said.
On Saturday, Oct. 28, American celebrity news website TMZ reported that their source informed them that Matthew, best known as Chandler Bing, passed away in the jacuzzi of his own house.
According to TMZ, there was “ no foul play involved” and “no drugs found" at his home.
The exact cause of the actor’s death remains under investigation, according to The New York Times’s article published Monday.
