Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero reminded the resource persons who are hearing on the issue to present facts rather than opinions in showing support for charter change (Cha-cha).
On Sunday, Escudero said in a radio interview that the invited resource persons should have solid research and solid data, not only express opinions on whether the amendments are necessary or not.
He added that it could be helpful if facts were presented to compare the data and not just the stated opinions alone, saying that those who allege must prove the same and that amendments should be needed.
The senator has questioned the rationale behind the amendments to the three provisions, stressing the lack of data to support the proposal.
Escudero said that he would like to hear since he has no idea where those three provisions came from, although he already knew that it was the result of the meeting between Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and House Speaker Ferdinand Romualdez.
In January, Zubiri filed RBH6, which was the result of his separate discussions with the House Speaker and President Ferdinan Marcos Jr.
According to Escudero, the amendments will not be beneficial to the Philippines much from opening up the advertising and education sectors to 100% foreign ownership, questioning the supporting data and the ones who suggested it.
Meanwhile, RBH 6 was authored by Zubiri, alongside Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda and Sen. Sonny Angara.
