Akira Toriyama, the creator of the iconic anime franchise “Dragon Ball,” died at 68.
In a statement posted on “Dragon Ball’s” official website, Bird Studio posted that Toriyama died on March 1 because of acute subdural hematoma.
“It’s our deep regret that he still had several works in the middle of creation with great enthusiasm Also, he would have many more things to achieve,” its statement read.
Bird Studio expressed its gratitude toward people’s support which led to Toriyama’s expansive creative activities for over 45 years.
“We hope that Akira Toriyama’s unique world of creation continues to be loved by everyone for a long time to come. We inform you this sad news, with gratefulness for your kindness during his lifetime,” its statement further read.
Toriyama’s “Dragon Ball” was serialized in 1984 and has become an international hit for anime lovers and dabblers alike up to this day.
