Group Malayang Alyansa ng Bus Employees at Laborers (MANIBELA) considers the transport strike on Monday, October 16, as successful.
MANIBELA chair Mar Valbuena sees the numerous face-to-face class suspensions, and free rides offered by the government as proof that the strike succeeded in paralyzing the public transport sector.
"Bakit kayo nag-suspend? May strike ba? Bakit may libreng sakay? May strike ba? Hindi pa na-paralyze namin kaya ginawa niyo yung pag-suspend, at libreng sakay," Valbuena said during DZRH's Breaktime.
"Kung nagpatawag kami ng strike, huwag kang magpatawag ng suspension ng pasok at huwag kang maglagay ng libreng sakay para ma-assess natin ng mabuti," he added.
Valbuena also hit Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) acting chairperson Romando Artes who said that the strike failed to paralyze public transportation.
"Ang assessment namin diyan ay huwag tayong sinungaling. Ang sinungaling talaga ay kapatid ng magnanakaw," Valbuena said.
"Alin ba ang totoo? Yung sinasabi ng mga commuter o yung sinasabi ng mga nasa gobyerno na nagpapalaki lang ng kanilang tiyan sa opisina. May strike ba o wala," he stressed.
MANIBELA protests against the public utility vehicle modernization program, and the alleged corruption within the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
