Face-to-face classes in some parts of the country have been canceled on Tuesday, April 4, due to the hot weather.

Libon, Albay

In an advisory, Libon, Albay Mayor Wilfredo Maronilla ordered the shift of face-to-face classes to online due to the forecasted 36 to 41 degrees Celcius heat in the municipal.

"The public is also advised to take necessary precautions on heat-related illnesses brought by the high heat index due to the summer season," Maronilla stated.

Quezon City

The local government of Quezon City likewise directed daycare, public elementary schools and secondary schools, and Alternative Learning System schools to shift to asynchronous/synchronous classes as the heat index is foreseen to reach 41 degrees Celcius.

General Santos

Mayor Lorelie Geronimo Pacquiao signed Executive Order No. 19 series of 2024 declaring face-to-face classes in both private and public schools in General Santos City from April 2 to April 5.

The suspension shall take effect "unless otherwise extended or lifted earlier."

All private and public schools are directed to adopt alternative learning systems.

Muntinlupa City

Mayor Ruffy Biazon directed the shortened morning face-to-face classes due to extreme heat and suspended the afternoon face-to-face classes in all public schools in Muntinlupa from kindergarten to senior high, including child development centers.

"Suspension of classes in private schools is left to the discretion of their school head," Biazon noted.

Navotas

The Navotas Schools Division Office released an advisory adjusting the classes in all public schools.

There would be no face-to-face classes from 10 AM to 2 PM, the time duration identified as "highest heat index peaks" by state weather bureau PAGASA.

"The remaining class hours will be devoted to asynchronous activities," it said.
