The Visayas grid will once again be placed on yellow alert status on Wednesday, May 15, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
In an advisory, the NGCP said the yellow alert status will take effect from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Visayasgrid's available capacity is 2,926 MW, while peak demand is 2,596 MW.
"One plant has been on forced outage since 2022, 2 since 2023, 2 between January and March 2024, and 14 power plants between April and May 2024, while 5 are running on derated capacities, for a total of 613.3 MW unavailable to the grid," the NGCP said.
Yesterday, the Visayas grid and the Luzon grid were placed on yellow alert status.
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.
