The San Miguel Beermen retired the no. 29 jersey of Arwind Santos.
The retirement ceremony happened during the halftime break of the game between the Beermen and the Blackwater Bossings on Wednesday, May 1, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Santos won nine PBA championships when he played for the San Miguel franchise from 2009 to 2021.
To the shock of many basketball fans, his tenure with the Beermen came to an end after San Miguel traded him to the NorthPort Batang Pier.
The 42-year old basketball player has won mulitple awards including the 2013 PBA Most Valuable Player, two PBA Finals MVP plum, two PBA Best Player of the Conference, and three PBA Defensive Player of the Year awards.
Santos currently plays for the for Pampanga Giant Lanterns in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
Aside from Santos, the San Miguel franchise has retired the jersey numbers of six other players: Ramon Fernandez, Allan Caidic, Hector Calma, Yves Dignadice, Olsen Racela, and Samboy Lim.
