Baguio was hailed as the wealthiest city outside Metro Manila in 2022, the data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed.

According to the PSA’s Provincial Product Accounts, Baguio had the highest per capita gross domestic products among the provinces, as well as the most highly urbanized cities in the country during that year, with a GDP reaching P420,016, which is more than double the national average of P178,751.

Following Baguio with a per capita GDP of P343,936 were Cagayan de Oro City, Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu with P313,039, Iloilo City with P306,444, and the province of Bataan with P297,930.

The per capita GDP is a measure of the economy’s growth per person in a specific location, which is also a measure of wealth or poverty.
