President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has rejected the implementation of the resolution proposing to increase fines for illegal parking in Metro Manila.
In a video statement posted on Wednesday, April 24, Marcos said the fines for the violation shall remain at P1,000.
The President noted that he understood the intention behind the proposed increase but said he prioritizes discipline.
"Ang bagong Pilipino ay disiplinado. By focusing on individual responsibility, we can create long-lasting solutions to our traffic challenge," Marcos added.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said it would abide by the Chief Executive's directive.
