Japan confers Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon on Filipino Entrepreneur Egmidio Cesar Jose

MANILA – The Japanese Embassy in the Philippines officially recognized what it calls “outstanding dedication” and “remarkable achievements” of Filipino entrepreneur Mr. Egmidio Cesar Jose, in fostering economic cooperation and collaboration between Japan and the Philippines.

In a ceremony held on January 24, 2024 at the Japanese Ambassador’s Residence in Makati City, Ambassador KOSHIKAWA Kazuhiko, on behalf of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon upon Mr. Jose.

In his speech, Koshikawa lauded the relentless efforts of Mr. Jose in contributing to both countries’ stronger economic ties.

The Ambassador expressed his hope that Mr. Jose will continue to inspire Filipino innovators like him to “develop creative solutions to address pressing issues in our society and participate in nation building.”

According to the Japanese Embassy, Mr. Jose played a pivotal role in organizing and strengthening ties between business communities of both countries while being the Chairman of the Philippine-Japan Economic Cooperation (PHILJEC).

“His commitment to Japan-Philippines bilateral ties was displayed in multiple occasions throughout the years, including his leadership during the 33rd Joint Meeting of the Japan-Philippines Economic Cooperation Committee in Tokyo in 2015; contribution to the growth of the automotive sector in the Philippines; and active promotion of the stable operation of Japanese businesses, especially during the onslaught of COVID-19,” the Japanese Embassy said in a statement.

Also in attendance during the conferment ceremony were distinguished guests namely Former Prime Minister Cesar Virata, Calamba City Representative Alberto G. Romulo, Former Senator Richard Gordon, Sr., Former Ambassador to Japan Jose C. Laurel V, Former Ambassador to Canada Rodolfo D. Robles, Former Director-General of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority Lilia B. De Lima, and Nihongo Center Foundation President Philip Sanvictores.
